Personal story
My life’s work began with a simple realization: strong foundations change everything. During some of
the most important educational years of my childhood, I often found myself trying to navigate the
world without the guidance, structure, and opportunities that help young minds fully flourish. As I
grew older and began building those foundations for myself, I discovered something extraordinary-
that potential is not reserved for a select few. It can be nurtured, cultivated, and awakened. Once I
experienced that transformation in my own life, I knew I could never keep that knowledge to myself.
That conviction deepened when I became a mother. Watching my son grow and intentionally
investing in his development showed me the remarkable impact that a strong foundation can have on
a child’s future. Seeing him thrive academically and intellectually at such a young age affirmed what I
had long believed: when children are given the right environment, encouragement, and support, there
is no limit to what they can achieve. Soon after welcoming my daughter, I faced a difficult pregnancy
that challenged me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. During that season, I found comfort in
nature. Long walks beneath towering trees, quiet moments outdoors, and the steady wisdom of the
natural world reminded me that growth often happens beneath the surface long before it becomes
visible. Those experiences would later inspire my writing and the lessons at the heart of my book.
What began as a commitment to my own children grew into a broader mission. I opened a preschool
in Washington, D.C., dedicated to helping children build the foundations they need to flourish. Yet the
more lives I touched, the more I felt called to serve beyond my own community. Today, that mission
extends across continents as I invest my time, resources, and heart into supporting educational
opportunities for children in Africa. Whether through writing, education, entrepreneurship, or
philanthropy, my purpose remains the same: to help others recognize their potential, nurture it with
intention, and grow into all they were created to become.
